What specialty populations will benefit from Family Centered Treatment?
Family Centered Treatment is a model of service delivery designed for families, and in
some cases, individuals that are having difficulty coping with life circumstances that
vary in both type and degree. This model has proven successful with families and individuals
faced with some distinctively defined needs. As result, FCT has proven effective with some
specialty populations that have been traditionally served within the context of client
centered treatment. With some specialty populations, additional individualized or
specialized treatment may be required. IFCS’ Family Centered Treatment model is designed
to assist the family or individual with making changes needed to create more stability
or effective functioning as they cope with their specific medical, behavioral, or
emotional situation.
FCT has proven effective for families or individuals coping with the effects of the
following specialty needs or circumstances: the dually diagnosed mental health client,
families involved in domestic violence, the juvenile justice client, infant mental health,
families involved in abuse and neglect situations, sexual abuse victims and offenders and
other trauma or crisis situations.
